8 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari

This trip exposes travellers to the world of primates and other wildlife species in Uganda. Uganda is truly blessed with pure nature of wildlife creatures roaming in different parts of the pearl of Africa. They opt to live in a favorable and conducive environment stationed in different areas like national parks, game reserves and sanctuaries. The Gorillas and other primate species inhabits in forested parts of Uganda where by vegetation and climate changes determines their survival in the wilderness.
  • Day 1: Pick up from Kampala- Lake Mburo

    The first day of the safari you will be picked by the safari guide from a hotel and head to lake Mburo Uganda’s smallest savannah national park. You will have a break in the journey at the Equator along Masaka road where you will take nice photos for remembrance of this unique art piece. Lunch will be served on the way and then drive to lake Mburo rest and prepare for an evening game drive where you will encounter a variety of animal species such as a number of antelopes, Erands , Burchell zebras, warthogs, African elephants return to the accommodation and retire for a night.

    Accommodation: luxury – satellite hotel, Joka’s hotel, Val heights hotel, midrange– modest inn, yahoo guest house and budget – palm gardens and guest house, Nakoosi eco-lodge.

  • Day 2: Game drive – transfer to queen Elizabeth

    After a cup of coffee at dawn, you will head for a morning game drive around the park to see the rest of the animals you missed during the first game drive. You will also have a clear view of the 13 nearby lakes with a variety of array water birds, crocodiles and hippopotamus as they enjoy their aquatic life. You will also get information about the ancient Precambrian metamorphic rocks underneath. Return for lunch at the accommodation then transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park the land of tree climbing lions. You will reach in the evening at the accommodation for a night stay.

  • Day 3: Early morning game drive – boat cruise

    Breakfast will be served in the morning and then opt for a game drive around the park such as the Kasenyi landing sight commonly referred to as the parks mating grounds, kyambura gorge embodied with greenery, roaming chimps and streams . You will encounter numerous animal species such as buffaloes, elephants, duikers, oribis, Jackson hartebeest, giraffes, warthogs and a variety of bird species. Return at the accommodation site for lunch, rest then you will head for an evening boat cruise at the famous kazinga channel connecting Lake Edward and George this adventure will expose you to the aquatic life such as hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds and other animals at the bank not forgetting a great feel of the sea breeze. Return for a night stay.

  • Day 4: Transfer to ishasha – descend to bwindi

    After a cup of coffee, you will descend to the southern part of the park in the ishasha sector in search of the amazing tree climbing lions. This will be a long search since lions tend to hide in fig trees and plain grass but luckily you can be able to spot this member of the cat’s family. Drive through ishasha to Bwindi impenetrable national forest the land of the great and gentile primate species. There will be a break in the journey at kihihi town for lunch and detour around the town to experience its urban setting. Descend to the park and retire for the night at the reserved hotel after a night meal.

  • Day 5: Gorilla trekking – community walk

    Morning tea taken at Dawn, you will travel to the park headquarters at round 8:30am for a briefing by the park guide. Join your tracking group in Buhoma and experience the thrill of the jungle which will normally take 2-8 hours and a strictly one hour interaction with the mountain gorillas when found. There is a 98% chance of not seeing the gorillas since they are nomads and sometimes get to places which cannot be accessed. You will be expected to carry packed lunch, a bottle of water, a light jacket, jungle boots among others. You will have packed lunch in the jungle. At the return rest and prepare for a community walk meeting up with the Batwa in particular who will perform in your presence their cultural dances, narrate to you their folklore, prepare for you their local cuisine. Get back to the park for a night stay.

  • Day 6: Second gorilla trekking

    Breakfast at Dawn, you will go for a second gorilla tracking in Ruhija. After briefing by the tracking guide of the does and don’ts .you will do tracking but the second tracking is sometimes done to compare the tracking grounds the first with the second. You will encounter other primate species such as vervet monkey’s, red tailed monkey, grey cheecked mangabey, black and white colobus among others. You will have lunch in the jungle. Return to the lodge for a night stay.

  • Day 7: Have a rest with a canoe ride on Lake Bunyonyi

    In the morning, you will be served a meal and then descend to kabale to lake Bunyonyi for a boat canoeing. The wonderful lake side of Bunyonyi will expose you to a variety of beautiful small bird species and a walk at any of the 29 islands will live a life time memorable gap. The sea breeze will take away the fatigue accumulated from the gorilla trekking. Return for a night stay at the island lodge in Bunyonyi.

  • Day 8: Transfer to Entebbe for a flight
